How we handle your information at RuneShadow
Last Updated: October 22, 2025
Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a slog to read through. But here's the thing: at RuneShadow Architecture, we actually care about how your information gets handled. We're not some faceless corporation collecting data for the heck of it.
This policy lays out what info we collect when you interact with us, why we need it, and what we do with it. We've tried to keep the legalese to a minimum because, honestly, nobody wants to wade through that stuff.
Whether you're reaching out about a potential project, browsing our portfolio, or just poking around the site, we want you to know exactly where you stand with us.
When you reach out to us through our contact forms or email, we'll collect stuff like your name, email address, phone number, and whatever details you share about your project. We need this to actually respond to you - pretty straightforward.
Like most websites nowadays, ours automatically picks up some technical info when you visit:
If we end up working together, we'll collect additional details about your project requirements, site information, budget considerations, timelines, and any design preferences you share. This stuff's essential for us to do our job properly.
We're not gonna beat around the bush here - we use your information for pretty practical reasons:
Responding to your inquiries, sending project updates, and keeping you in the loop about things that matter to your project.
Actually doing the architectural work we're hired for - design development, consultations, documentation, all that good stuff.
Understanding how folks use our site so we can make it better. If everyone's bouncing off a particular page, we wanna know why.
Meeting our professional obligations as licensed architects in Canada and complying with applicable regulations.
Very occasionally, we might send you info about our studio or services, but we're not spammy about it. You can opt out anytime.
We're pretty protective of your info, but there are some situations where we need to share it:
We work with trusted third parties who help us run the business - think email hosting, cloud storage, project management tools. These folks only get access to what they need to do their job, and they're contractually bound to keep it confidential.
Sometimes projects need other professionals - structural engineers, contractors, consultants. We'll share relevant project info with them, but only what's necessary and with your knowledge.
If we're legally required to disclose information (court orders, regulatory requirements, etc.), we'll do so. We'd give you a heads up if possible.
What we DON'T do: We don't sell your data to marketers, we don't trade it with other companies, and we don't use it for anything sketchy. That's just not how we roll.
Yeah, we use cookies - not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. These are small files that help our website function properly and remember your preferences.
These keep the site running smoothly - things like remembering your session, maintaining security, and basic functionality. Can't really turn these off without breaking stuff.
We use analytics tools to understand how people use our site. This helps us figure out what's working and what's not. The data's anonymized and aggregated - we're not tracking individuals around the web or anything creepy like that.
Your browser lets you control cookies - you can block 'em, delete 'em, or get notified when they're being set. Just know that blocking all cookies might make some parts of the site wonky.
Under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA and provincial legislation), you've got some solid rights when it comes to your personal info:
You can ask to see what personal data we have about you.
If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.
Request that we delete your info (subject to legal obligations to keep certain records).
Unsubscribe from marketing communications anytime.
Get a copy of your data in a usable format.
Lodge a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner if you're not happy with how we handle things.
To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at studio@runeshadow.info. We'll get back to you within 30 days.
We take data security seriously, even though we're a small studio. Here's what we do to keep your info safe:
That said, no system's completely bulletproof. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If we ever have a data breach, we'll let you know ASAP and work with you to minimize any damage.
Our services aren't really aimed at kids under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you're a parent and think your kid's given us their info somehow, let us know and we'll delete it right away.
Realistically, most folks checking out architecture firms are adults looking at property projects, but we wanted to cover our bases here.
Privacy laws evolve, technology changes, and our practices might need updating. If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll post a notice on our website and update the "Last Updated" date at the top.
For major changes that affect how we use your data, we'll reach out directly if we have your contact info. It's worth checking back here occasionally if you're curious about any updates.
Got questions about this privacy policy? Want to exercise your rights? Just wanna chat about how we handle data? We're here for it.

We'll do our best to respond within a few business days. If it's about exercising your privacy rights, we've got 30 days to comply under Canadian law, but we usually move faster than that.
